Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Romans 12:12

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

2 Corinthians 12:10

That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Proverbs 17:22

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

Our Story

Symbol of hope

The sparrow (Mossie) is seen as a symbol of hope, because during the Anglo-boer war there was a concentration camp for women, (white, colored and black), kids and elderly. Everyone speaking Afrikaans. The camp was in the Free State, Bethulie. Annette Marais asked God again one night how she could give the other women hope. While reading to them Matthew 10:29 the next morning, a sparrow came to sit on her shoulder! This was the sign that showed them that He would look after them. After the war the sparrow were added onto the country's smallest coin in representation of hope, humbleness and joy in God.
